With one of South Africa’s largest and most diverse selections of premium dairy products, Woolworths has once again claimed top honours at the 193rd edition of the prestigious SA Dairy Championships – Africa’s biggest and longest-running dairy competition.

As a leading retailer dedicated to delivering outstanding quality, Woolworths is proud to have once again been recognised as the best of the best at the 2026 championships, which took place between the 25th and 27th of March.

The competition covered a wide range of dairy categories, with 1227 entries from 81 producers assessed by 130 expert judges. Each entry was carefully evaluated on its appearance, texture and taste, across 10 categories.

Among Agri-Expo’s significant contributions to the industry is the introduction of the Qualité emblem in 2001. Today, it stands as South Africa’s only official mark of excellence in dairy, awarded exclusively to a select group of the country’s most exceptional products.

Winners were announced on April 23rd, with Woolworths earning an impressive 80 awards in total – including 75 Champion Awards, with 5 products receiving the highly sought-after Qualité Award, namely, Fresh Custard with Vanilla Bean Seeds, Organic Fresh Full Cream Milk, Paarl Rock Brie, Unsalted Butter and Gouda Matured – 10 months, which received an honourable mention of second place overall.

Woolworths took home an impressive 46 awards in the Cheese category  and 13 from Yoghurt, with the remaining accolades from the Desserts, Ice-cream, Milk, Butter, Dairy Drinks and Cream categories.

“Woolworths remains one of the most consistently recognised brands at the SA Dairy Awards, a track record we aim to maintain” says David Cuff, Category Manager for Dairy at Woolworths. “Our strong performance reflects a long-standing commitment to partnering with leading dairy producers to drive innovation and deliver exceptional quality. We are immensely proud of the accolades earned by our dairy team and supplier partners, whose dedication ensures our products continue to exceed expectations.”
