Woolworths has made a donation to the Ebola Relief Fund.

This is in response to the South African Department of Health’s call for the private sector to contribute funds to assist those affected by the virus.

“We commend the leadership from Minister Aaron Motsoaledi, and other African governments, on the Ebola issue and are proud to support the fight against the virus. This Fund is an important initiative to support the well-being of all Africans,” says Zinzi Mgolodela, Head of Transformation for Woolworths.

“We would also encourage other corporates to support this effort” concludes Mgolodela.

In addition to monetary contributions, the Ebola Relief Fund calls on the private sector to contribute:

  • Ebola-related medication and medical equipment;
  • Generators;
  • Ambulances;
  • Gasoline; and
  • Special Ebola treatment units.
