As a proud South African company, this Mandela Day, Woolworths employees will be devoting their time to 67 community projects throughout the country.

Staff in Woolworths stores and business units across South Africa have nominated community projects which are close to their hearts and which they wish to support. 67 different projects were selected by the Woolworths Trust, which is giving each of them an additional R5000 donation, while teams of employee volunteers will dedicate their time on Mandela Day to helping these and other organizations in their communities. These include organisations supporting children, the elderly and individuals with disabilities or special needs, as well as wildlife.

Explaining their commitment to Mandela Day, Zinzi Mgolodela, Head of Transformation at Woolworths said, “The legacy of former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is that each individual has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better. Woolworths 67 Projects and 67 Minutes of Service initiatives commemorate Mandela Day 2014 and the legacy of a great man.”
