South African Fashion Week, an iconic event on South Africa’s fashion radar, is set to take place in Sandton, Johannesburg this year. Retailer and fashion and beauty authority, Woolworths, will be showcasing the locally designed and produced Summer ‘17 Style by SA collection at the show this year, as well as taking its place as the official beauty sponsor for the event.

Style By SA makes fashion history

Making strides for the South African Fashion and Beauty industry, Woolworths will once again be showcasing collections designed by SA’s best homegrown talent.

The responsibly sourced Better Cotton capsule collection features the work of five South African fashion designers, each commissioned by Woolworths to produce pieces made using sustainable fibres. It is the first collection of its kind in SAFW history – a feat for the SA retail giant and fashion powerhouse.

“This year, we have taken five of the incredibly creative and dynamic fashion designers from the original capsule collection and added six more talented designers – Gert-Johan Coetzee, Cleo Droomer, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Sindiso Khumalo, Reggie Xaba (iFele) and Ephraim Molingoana (Ephymol) – to deliver three proudly South African ranges on the runway: The Glam Capsule, The Resort Capsule and a Woolworths first, The Better Cotton Capsule,” says Thateng Shimange, Woolworths General Manager, Womensworld.

WBeauty Collaborates with Celebrity Make-Up Artist, Sir John

Woolworths will be flying in Sir John – make-up artist to Beyoncé, Serena Williams, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Joan Smalls and Viola Davis – for the show. The art student turned producer, mentor and big brand ambassador, rose to fame through his talent for creating looks that revere natural beauty, and a deep understanding of a variety of skin tones.

As the official SAFW beauty sponsor, WBeauty products will be used to create the runway looks on the models.

The new Style by SA collection will be available online at www.woolworths.co.za from 24 October 2017, and in selected stores from 25 October 2017.
