Woolworths priority is the safety of staff and customers. As the union embarks upon industrial action, this will be our key priority,” said Zyda Rylands, Chief operating officer, Support services. “I know that SACCAWU will support the need for a peaceful protest and that the union’s strike will be conducted in accordance with the conditions agreed with them through the CCMA process,” continued Rylands. Woolworths recognises the right of the union to organise its members and embark on a protected strike. Woolworths will ensure that such action causes minimal disruption to customers and employees. “We are deeply committed to our employees and work very hard to develop and maintain sound direct relationships with all employees” said Rylands.” Woolworths will grant full recognition to the union once they have demonstrated that they have sufficient representation.
