Woolworths priority is the safety of staff and customers. As the union embarks upon industrial action, this will be our key priority,” said Zyda Rylands, Chief operating officer, Support services. “I know that SACCAWU will support the need for a peaceful protest” said Rylands. Woolworths recognises the right of the union to organise its members and embark on protest action. Woolworths will ensure that such action causes minimal disruption to customers and employees. “We are deeply committed to our employees and work very hard to develop and maintain sound direct relationships with all employees,” said Rylands. Woolworths maintains that it will give the union appropriate recognition once they have demonstrated that they have sufficient representation.
