WOOLWORTHS PROPOSES SOLUTION TO CURRENT DISPUTE WITH UNION
October 7, 2008
Woolworths has proposed a solution to the current dispute with Saccawu after two days of negotiations at the CCMA. The proposal allows the union to show the representation it claims and to verify current members. Negotiations with the union on a settlement are continuing. “We believe this is a fair and reasonable proposal to resolve this dispute. This is consistent with our position for the union to show us their membership figures and, if they are sufficiently representative, we have no hesitation in granting the union organisational rights. I trust that the union will accept this proposal in good faith,” says Zyda Rylands, Chief operating officer, Support services at Woolworths. Ends.
