For winter 2009, Woolworths has re-looked its ever-popular classic range and proudly introduces a brand-new Classic Collection of easy-to-wear, timeless styles in gorgeous fabrics that are as easy to care for as they are to wear. The new Classic Collection joins Woolworths range of exclusive brands including w collection, studio.w, Twist, re_, activ. and Country Road to offer South African women a wide range of styles and looks from classic to contemporary. The new classic ranges of formal and casual wear make it easier than ever for South African women to find what they’re looking for: stylish separates and co-ordinates to update their wardrobes with a fresh new look. More good news is that Woolworths has increased many of its womenswear size ranges and selected styles in the new classic collection will be available up to size 24. “Our Classic Collection is aimed at women who have been shopping at Woolworths for years,” explains Trevor Perren, Group Head: Womenswear. “Our goal in re-launching the classic collection was to offer them a greater choice of updated, easy-to-wear styles and stunning accessories for both work and leisure.” But it’s not just style and range that make Woolworths new Classic Collection a sure favourite: it’s about fabrics and colours, too. As always, Woolworths has carefully selected fabrics not only for comfort and appearance, but for performance as well. Rigorous testing ensures that garments meet the high standards customers have come to expect from Woolworths. For winter, cotton, wool, corduroy, and viscose blends offer the ideal combination of warmth, comfort and easy care. When it comes to colour, for winter 2009, Classic Collection formal wear features a soft, country-inspired palette of soft limes, mid blues, chocolate, taupe and timeless camel pieces, while in casual wear intense berries and teal add jewel-like accents to neutral taupe and stone. Woolworths has long been the destination shop for winter warmth, and winter 2009 is no exception. Customers will find a wide range of beautiful, well-made knitwear in all the latest styles and colours, fromINTE easy-care, machine washable acrylics to soft, pure wool and the finest cashmere. And once again this year, Woolworths will also offer a wide range of soft, lightweight garments in their durable, easy-care polar fleece. In keeping with Woolworths Good business journey, organic and sustainable fibres – including cotton, wool and bamboo – will be found throughout the ranges. FASHION TRENDS FOR WINTER 2009 New silhouettes are softened by layers and romantic details. Traditional checks, plaids and tweeds combine with satins, sheers, lace and velvet. It’s a season of contrasts, too, with the interplay of matt and shine playing a key role in fabrications from satin to knits. Colour is a dominant feature for winter 2009, with neutrals from winter white, mushroom, camel and warm greys offset by rich tones of gold, peacock, ruby and new pink. Rusts, rich berries and dark shades from bilberry to bitter chocolate and dark ink add warmth. Pattern continues to be a strong theme, with paisleys, winter florals and lace featuring strongly. These combine in the major themes for winter, which range from soft gothic romance and luscious, bohemian influences to traditional country looks reminiscent of authentic American heritage styling. Woolworths will launch its winter 2009 lines into stores from 18 March 2009. Woolworths advertising campaign for winter 2009 will again feature ‘real people’ who are both role models and inspirations. With less than 18 months to go until the start of the 2010 soccer world cup, the campaign reminds South Africans of all the reasons it’s time for us to believe in ourselves and what we are able to accomplish when we put our minds to it.
